The Genesis vehicle line, including the G70, G80, and G90 sedans, is a relatively new line of luxury sedans offering an upscale driving experience with attractive pricing. With a recent restyling and additional luxury features this model year, Genesis holds its own in this niche market. Specifically, this model year's safety and technology features are worth examining more closely.

Safety

This sophisticated lineup of vehicles is about not compromising, especially when it comes to the things that keep occupants safe and comfortable. Genesis features some of the most advanced safety technology in the industry. All premium trims include driver-assistive features such as driver attention warning, smart cruise control with stop & go, forward collision-avoidance assist, low beam assist-dynamic, and high beam assist. Upgrading to the Royal Sport trim adds lane keeping assist, blind spot detection, and autonomous emergency braking. Let's examine how each of these features works.

Driver attention warning analyzes the driving patterns and vehicle positioning and uses a 5-stage warning system to notify the driver when action is needed. It shows pop-up messages on the driver display and activates warning signals to encourage the driver to rest when the system detects inattentive driving or driver fatigue. Blind-spot collision warning utilizes two radars on the rear of the vehicle to detect and warn the driver when vehicles are close to the driver's blind spots or back side of the car. Lane keeping assist uses a front camera that alerts the driver when they stray from their lane and assists the steering to help the vehicle back into the lane. Smart cruise control with stop-and-go maintains the driver's set speed, while also keeping a safe distance from cars ahead. Forward collision-avoidance assist utilizes a front radar and camera to warn the driver and apply the brakes if the system detects a potential forward collision. Low beam assist-dynamic improves visibility and reduces blind spots by automatically steering left or right with the steering wheel. High beam assist automatically switches between high beam and low beam to improve visibility and keep from blinding drivers of oncoming vehicles.

Technology

Genesis vehicles include some of the finest multimedia and entertainment features available to keep you connected and entertained while on the road. Standard multimedia features on the base G70 trim include Bluetooth with voice recognition, USB and AUX ports, a 6-speaker audio system with a remote control, and an 8-inch screen audio display. Higher trims upgrade to a Lexicon 15-speaker audio system and include an 8-inch OEM navigation system. Other features on the base models include wireless charging, a rear-view camera with dynamic turning, and an auto window defogger. Most noticeably, upgrading to the Royal Sport model adds an around-view monitor system with four HD-quality cameras to uncover all of the vehicle's blind spots. The Genesis G80 adds even more entertainment features such as a rear-seat entertainment system with 9.2-inch monitors and a remote-control panel. The G90 model benefits from having heavily upgraded Lexicon audio systems. The Platinum trim includes an impressive 17-speaker Quantum Logic surround sound audio system for those who want some of the highest-quality sound available.
